Pact. Shakti was created with the intention of enhancing women's sense of
belonging within the poetry community through the an unmoderated writing
circle.

Coming up on Sunday, December 3rd
[image: Sasha Warner-Berry] This week the *Poets' Asylum* welcomes *Sasha
Warner-Berry* as our feature. Sasha Warner-Berry was born and raised in
Cambridge, Massachusetts, and has been writing in various forms all her
life. She currently lives in Providence, Rhode Island, where she began
performing her work three years ago. She has twice qualified for the
Providence Poetry Slam Grandslam, and has recently featured at the GotPoetry
Live reading and at events by Youth Pride and New Urban Arts. She claims to
be working on a chapbook. Sasha's writing has been described as an
intimidatingly effective blend of concept, issue, and style. She takes on
everything from dildos to depression with insight, humor, and compassion,
delivering compelling pieces that leave their mark on any audience.
The Poets' Asylum meets at the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). An
open mic sign-up list goes out around 7:00 p.m. with the reading starting
somewhere thereafter. The feature follows the open mic. No cover; please
throw some money in the bucket to pay the feature.

November 26th Revisited
This week we held the final *Open Qualifying Slam* before the Winter
Semi-finals and iWPS Slam-off. The Java Hut was packed, as was the open mic.
An extra welcome to the first time readers this week; please come again.
Eight poets entered the slam and only two could move on to semi-finals. When
the dust cleared and the scores were double checked Gary Hoare and Alex
Charlambides tied for first place. Both will move on to semis. Nice work
from all the competitors. Many thanks to all who came out to cheer on the
slammers and special thanks to our judges.
Scores and time penalties can be found on the Slam
page<http://www.poetsasylum.org/slam.html#SCORES>
