Shakti Women's Writing Pact - Every Saturday Afternoon
If you are a woman who writes you should join the Shakti Women's Writing
Pact. Shakti was created with the intention of enhancing women's sense of
belonging within the poetry community through the an unmoderated writing
circle.
Shakti meets every Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.at the Java Hut (1073A Main
Street, Worcester). For more information please contact Sou MacMillan at
twobunny at earthlink.net.

Coming up on Sunday, April 8th
This week at the Poets' Asylum we'll hold our regular open mic followed by a
feature from writer *Jeff Paris*. Jeff Paris lives a life of quietly
frenetic contemplation in NYC. He teaches music to very little kids -- which
is joyfully not-quiet. He co-edits and publishes an annual magazine, New
Genre <http://new-genre.com/>. He did slam poetry in Boston, years ago. He
hasn't seen Sou or Bill in a long time, and is happy at the thought. He is
most recently published in Flim Forum <http://www.flimforum.com/>'s "Oh One
Arrow" compilation. Well ... honestly ... that's kind of the only place he's
published.
Join us at the Java Hut, 1073A Main Street in Worcester. The sign-up list
goes up around 7:00 p.m. and the open mic will start sometime after that.
The feature follows the open mic. No cover; bring a few bucks for the bucket
to support the reading and to buy a tasty beverage in support of the venue.

April 1st Revisited
This week the Asylum held the final *open qualifying slam* of the 2007
Worcester Slam season. Six competitors battled with words for weapons on our
little stage. It was a good competition with nary a penalty in sight. Thanks
to Kate, Bobby, Halliday, Cyndi, Dennis and Maya for sharing their words. A
pat on the back to the judges for their generally thankless work and a round
of applause to the audience for sticking with us until the end.
Congratulations to *Maya* and *Kate* on earning the two final places in the
Spring Semi-final. Scores can be found in the usual
place<http://www.poetsasylum.org/slam.html#SCORES>
