Greetings - there are a few mid week poetry events taking place this week so
I thought I'd send out a special edition of the Asylum newsletter. The
regular weekly update on Asylum events will come out on Friday.
------------------------------
Worcester Poetry Showcase tonight

Join Quinsigamond Community College and the
WCPA<http://wcpa.homestead.com/>on Wednesday, April 11th for the
second annual
*Worcester Poetry Showcase*.

The reading runs from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and is being held at the Harrington
Learning Center of Quinsigamond Community College (670 West Boylston Street,
Worcester). The reading will feature the winners of this years area poetry
contests and members of the *SpeakOut! Youth Slam*. Time permitting an open
reading will be held after the scheduled program.
------------------------------
Eye of the Beholder Poetry Evening

On Thursday, April 12th the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (280 The Fenway,
Boston) will celebrate the poetry of the great grandniece of the founder of
the Gardner Museum, also named Isabella, for *Eye of the Beholder Poetry
Evening*. Isabella lived a colorful life: comic stage actress, poet, poetry
editor, nurturer of younger poets and, in her later years, mentor and
patroness for a circle of writers, artists, and musicians in New Yorks
famous Chelsea Hotel. The program starts at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $7; free
for students.

For more information call 617-278-5156 or visit their

Poetry Jam Showcase in Boston

Also on Thursday night, April 12th make plans to join the Cantab & Lizard
Lounge for a super-special big-time all-ages *National Poetry Month show*!
The inventor of the poetry slam, Marc Smith himself, will perform his work,
aided by the jazz stylings of the Jeff Robinson Trio. Opening showcase poets
include Adam Stone, Iyeoka Okoawo, and Duende with Tony Brown and Faro.

The show starts at 8:00 p.m. so there time to hit both the Gardner Museum
event and this amazing show. The event is being held at the Central Square
YMCA (820 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge). Tickets are $10.
