Pact. Shakti was created with the intention of enhancing women's sense of
belonging within the poetry community through the an unmoderated writing
circle.

Coming up on Sunday, August 19th[image: 2007 Worcester Slam Team]
Head on down to the Java Hut this Sunday for the annual *Anti-Slam*. The
Anti-Slam is a tradition following the teams return from Nationals each
year. Come and watch as we do everything wrong. We'll ignore the time
penalties. Props, costumes and musical accompaniment are not only allowed
but are encouraged. It's just a little stress relief for the returning
slammers and good fun for everyone else who joins in.
Please join us at the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). The open mic
sign-up goes up around 7:00 p.m. with the reading starting somewhere there
after. The Anti-Slam follows the open reading.

August 12th Revisited
Thanks to everyone who came out for the Summer '07 issue of Ballard Street
Poetry Journal <http://ballardstreetpoetryjournal.com/>. Two of the
contributors to the issue were on hand to read their work following the open
mic. After the contributors read *Bob Gill* took the stage for a 20 or so
minute set. Since he's the guy typing this it feels weird to say much more
than that.
