Shakti Women's Writing Pact - Every Saturday Afternoon
If you are a woman who writes you should join the Shakti Women's Writing
Pact. Shakti was created with the intention of enhancing women's sense of
belonging within the poetry community through the an unmoderated writing
circle.
Shakti meets every Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.at the Java Hut (1073A Main
Street, Worcester). For more information please contact Sou MacMillan
at twobunny

Coming up on Sunday, August 26th
Please join the Asylum this week for a feature by *Karen Ladson*. Native New
Yorker Karen Ladson got her first taste of slam at the 1999 Nuyorican
Semifinals. Watching a good friend compete, she thought, "I could never do
that." A move to the Left Coast and one mundane dotcom job changed all that.
On January 14, 2001, Karen Ladson set a goal: "to write a poem." One month
later, she won her first slam. Three months later, she became a proud member
of Team Berkeley 2001.
Join us at the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). The open mic sign-up
list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the reading starts closer to 7:30 p.m. No
cover; please throw some money in the bucket to support the feature.

August 19th Revisited
Thanks to everyone who came out for the annual Anti-Slam this week. Cyndi
Keeley took the role of host and a panel of judges scored the poets in the
tried and true rock-paper-scissors method. Much silliness ensued. A perfect
end to another slam season. Rest up well slammers - the next slam season
starts on September 16th.
