Welcome to the weekly Asylum newsletter.

Coming up on Sunday, December 9th
[image: Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz] This week the Poets' Asylum welcomes the
fantastic *Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz*. She is the founder of the three-time
National Poetry Slam Championship Venue, NYC-Urbana, which currently calls
the Bowery Poetry Club its home. Her fourth book of poetry, 'Oh, Terrible
Youth' was published by The Wordsmith Press in June 2007 and her first book
of nonfiction, 'Words In Your Face: A Guided Tour Through Twenty Years of
the New York City Poetry Slam,' will be published by Soft Skull Press in
this winter. For more info, please visit her website: www.aptowicz.com.
Join us at the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). The open mic sign-up
list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the reading starts closer to 7:30 p.m. No
cover; please throw some money in the bucket to support the feature.

December 2nd Revisited
This week at the Asylum we had a packed house and open mic. Our feature was
*Taylor Mali*. Taylor did a wonderful set consisting of poems from his new
CD (*Icarus Airlines*), experimental work and a few old favorites. He made
the gathered think hard and laugh even harder. Thanks for the great feature
Taylor.
Thanks to Dave K for review of the reading.

Duende performs at Worcester Storytellers on Dec. 14th
*Duende*, the powerhouse performance duo of Tony Brown and Stephen Cafaro,
will perform the Worcester premiere of *"Americanized*" next Friday night,
December 14th, at Worcester Storytellers.
Worcester Storytellers meets at the Village Arts Gallery (1 Ekman Street,
Worcester). The reading starts at 8:00 p.m. with an open mic; bring your
short stories, poetry and charming tales to share. Duende will follow the
open. There is never a cover charge at Worcester Storytellers. They ask you
throw some money into the basket to support the artists who feature. So
bring a few bucks (because performers deserve to be paid for their hard
work) and join the fun next Friday night!
For more info please contact Dave Macpherson <davemacp at aol.com>.
