December 14th at *Worcester Storytellers*. Worcester Storytellers meets at
the Village Arts Gallery (1 Ekman Street, Worcester). The reading starts at

Coming up on Sunday, December 16th
[image: Poetic Boxing] Join the Asylum this week for the next *Open
Qualifying Slam* for the 2008 Worcester Slam Season. This will be the last
qualifier before the Winter Semi-final slam next Sunday. The top 2 finishers
in tonight's competition move onto the Winter Semi-final next week.
A poetry slam is a performance poetry competition. Anyone can participate.
Poets are given three minutes to step up to the mic and perform a poem of
their own construction. Folks chosen from the audience judge the performance
and the poetry. The slam runs a couple of rounds, we tally the scores and
declare a winner. Weather permitting it will be a blast.
Join us at the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). The open mic sign-up
list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the reading starts closer to 7:30 p.m. No
cover; please throw some money in the bucket to support the slam team.

December 9th Revisited
There was a full house at the Asylum Sunday night despite the lousy weather.
Those who came out heard some amazing poetry both in the open and from our
feature *Cristin O'Keefe-Aptowicz*. Cristin read a mix of work from her four
books of poetry and touched on relationships, learning the power of
metaphors and sibling rivalry. Her high energy style and well crafted work
had the audience held rapt with interest. It was a great night. Thanks for
Cristin for coming out.
