Welcome to the penultimate Asylum newsletter of 2007. There is still some
great poetry to be had before the year closes out. Please join us this
weekend.

Youth Slam Friday Night

The *SpeakOut! Poetry Collective* and Worcester Youth Slam meets on the 3rd
Friday of every month. This will be their final event at the Java Hut (1073A
Main Street, Worcester), which is closing on Sunday after the Poets' Asylum
Winter Semi-finals. The open mic list goes up at at 7:15 p.m. and the open
reading starts shortly after that. The slam open to youth 13-19 years old
follows the open. The evening closes with a feature by *Bill MacMillan*. No
cover - $2 "suggested" donation on the bucket pass. One food/drink item
minimum.

Coming up on Sunday, December 23rd

[image: microphone image] Come join the fun as we hold the *Winter
Semi-final Slam*. The top four finishers move on to the team finals in May
2008. Ryk McIntyre, Bobby Gibbs, Cyndi Keeley, Trevor Byrne-Smith, Adam
Stone, Sam Teitel, Dave Keali'i and Nick Davis are expected to complete.
This will be a great night of performance poetry and you don't want to miss
it!

Come on down to the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). The open mic
sign-up list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the reading starts closer to 7:30
p.m. No cover; please throw some money in the bucket to support the reading.

This will be our last night at the Java Hut which will close after the
reading ends. The Java Hut has been an excellent venue for the Poets' Asylum
and we will miss their support. Starting next week, December 30th, we will
begin meeting at The Q <http://theqma.com/>, a cafe located at 362 Chandler
Street in Worcester. The owners are excited to have us on their schedule and
are working with us to make the transition as smooth as possible. We hope
you'll be a part of it.

December 16th Revisited

Congratulations to *Dave Keali'i* and *Nick Davis* in winning our latest *open
qualifying slam* this week. They move on to the Winter semi-finals which
take place next week. Please join us.
