Shakti Women's Writing Pact - Every Saturday Afternoon
If you are a woman who writes you should join the Shakti Women's Writing
Pact. Shakti was created with the intention of enhancing women's sense of
belonging within the poetry community through the an unmoderated writing
circle.
Shakti meets every Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.at the Java Hut (1073A Main
Street, Worcester). For more information please contact Sou MacMillan

Coming up on Sunday, June 10th
This week members of the *2007 Worcester Youth Slam Team* will be the
feature at the Asylum. Individually, they are Eddy Habib, Emily Mele, Jeff
Siegrist and Winter... but combined these four young word-writes are the
2007 Worcester Youth Slam Team, taking a break from their normal third
Friday shenanigans to perform their best work. This is a fund-raiser for
their trip to San Jose and the 2007 Brave New Voices Festival. Team
chapbooks will be available for sale.
Join us at the Java Hut, 1073A Main Street in Worcester. The sign-up list
goes up around 7:00 p.m. and the open mic will start sometime after that.
The feature follows the open mic. No cover; please bring a few bucks for the
bucket to support the team and to buy a tasty beverage in support of the
venue. Please come down and support the next generation of spoken word
poets.

Slam Team Fund Raising
It's probably no surprise that it takes money to get the team from Worcester
to Nationals every year. The Asylum community has always been very generous
through the bucket and our annual Auction. This year we are adding two new
events in the hopes of bringing in some new donors... an Art Sale & Auction
and the iPod Nano Fundraising Challenge. We are finalizing the details of
both events and will annouce the details this Sunday at the reading.
As always thank you for your support.

June 3rd Revisited
*Adam Stone* was our feature this week. He started out with a quick cover by
Derrick Brown and then plowed into a great set. If this set had a theme it
was love - love lost, love of place, angry love, Muppet love. With a quick
turn of phrase and knack for tugging at your heart when you weren't
expecting it. Highlights included an excellent Rolf the Dog piece and a
fantastic never-heard-before dual voice piece with Emily (whose last name I
would butcher if I tried to put it here). Thanks Adam for a fine feature.

The Poets' Asylum is in its fifteenth year of bringing the best in
