Welcome to the weekly Asylum newsletter. Here's a look at what is happening
this week at the Poets' Asylum.

Winter Craft Bizarre and Art Sale
This Sunday, December 2nd, we will run a *Crafts Fair*. Asylum and local
area crafters will be on hand to display and sell their work. The event is
being held at the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester) and will run from
10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Also during the month of December the Java Hut has agreed to allow the
Poets' Asylum to run a month long *Art Sale*. Instead of a single artists
work appearing on the walls the Asylum is collecting donated art work from a
variety of artists. During December you'll be able to browse the collection
at the Java Hut, purchase a piece of art and take it home with you.
Proceeds from both these events help support the work of the Poets' Asylum
including the weekly reading and the Worcester Slam Team. Please come out,
support some local artists and have a cup or two.

Coming up on Sunday, December 2nd
[image: Taylor Mali] Stick around for the *Poets' Asylum* weekly reading for
a don't miss feature by *Taylor Mali*. Mali studied drama with members of
The Royal Shakespeare Company and has put those stage skills to use
performing poetry all over the world and serving as the official voiceover
voice on all Burger King commercials in 1998. One of the original poets to
appear on the HBO series Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry, he is one of
the most well known slam poets, having won the national championship four
times. A former teacher and lifelong educator, he is the author of several
CDs, books, and DVDs of spoken word.
Come on down to the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). The open mic
sign-up list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the reading starts closer to 7:30
p.m. No cover; please throw some money in the bucket to support the feature.

Hoare and
Andrew Watt to capture the win. In addition to Tony, Gary, and Andrew we
were honored to have Heather Macpherson and Dave Keali'i compete. Thanks to
