Coming up on Sunday, September 9th
This week the fantabulous *Dawn Gabriel* takes the stage at the Asylum. Dawn
Gabriel has been performing her poetry for over ten years, including stints
with Lollapalooza's Spoken Word stage, the Seattle Poetry Festival, and
Boston's First Night. Dawn holds the rare distinction of having competed for
Boston, Worcester, and Providence, R.I. at the National Poetry Slam; her
poetry shows off the craft, quirkiness, and power of all three.
Join us at the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). The open mic sign-up
list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the reading starts closer to 7:30 p.m. No
cover; please throw some money in the bucket to support the feature.

September 2nd Revisited
We had a decent size crowd for a holiday Asylum and those who gathered were
treated to the poetic arts of *Dawn Saylor*. Dawn shared some older
non-slammy work and then moved into newer pieces. With her trusty monkey by
her side she taught us about the nature of relationships. A firecracker of a
performer even her quieter pieces drew knowing nods and appreciative
comments for the audience. It was great set. Thanks for coming our way Dawn.

Worcester Storytellers Returns on Sept. 14th
Worcester Storytellers returns next Friday, September 14th. The reading
starts at 8:00 p.m. with an open reading. All types of spoken word are
welcome; poetry, folk tales, short stories and so forth. Following the open
*Elaine Bentley-Baun*, a fantastic poet, will perform. This monthly reading
series will meet on the first floor of Vasa Hall (1 Ekman Street, Worcester)
on the second Friday of each month.
The reading is hosted by Dave Macpherson. Free & open to the public. A hat
is passed so bring some money to support the featured performer. Come on
down.
