Greetings from the Poets' Asylum. Another week and National Poetry Month
will be over. What ever will we do. Visit your regularly scheduled reading I
suppose. Here's some of what is happening this weekend.
------------------------------
WCPA College Poetry Finals
Come out for the first annual Worcester County Poetry
Association<http://wcpa.homestead.com/>
*College Poetry Competition Finalists' Reading*. The finalists reading will
be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Saxe Room at the Worcester Public
Library (1 Salem Square, Worcester). The winners will be announced at a
reception immediately following the reading.
The finalists are Allan-Michael Brown, David Corliss, Laura Crawford, (the
Asylum's own) *Elizabeth Heath*, Gregory Minogue, Lynsey Sicksch, Sandy Wade
and Melanie Wilcox.
------------------------------
Coming up on Sunay, April 27th @ the Asylum
Please join the Poets' Asylum this week for a feature by *Amy Steinberg*.
With irreverent humor and crafty intelligence, Amy Steinberg uses her
original music and poetry to promote tolerance, openness and diversity.
Combining a sassy sensibility with a loquacious socio-political and
spiritual awareness, Amy brings forth a fresh and solid energy. Check out
some of her work at www.amysteinberg.net .
Come on down to the The Q Cafe <http://theqma.com/> (362 Chandler Street,
Worcester). The open mic sign-up list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the
reading starts closer to 7:30 p.m. No cover; please throw some money in the
bucket to support the feature.
------------------------------
April 20th Revisited
*Jon Wolf* was the feature this week. He kicked off his set with a longer
piece that started with his amazing numerical creation piece and continued
with vibrant imagery describing the world of numbers. He closed out his set
with a couple of old favorites. This was excellent work. It's easy to forget
what great poets are in our midst. Thanks Jon.
