Following a cozy open mic we held an *open slam* with a twist. Two rookies signed up, honest to goodness never slammed before poets, and we gave them a 10 point bonus for taking the plunge. Scores were all over the spectrum, nice to see the range used as intended. Thanks to Phil, Zeb, Lisa, Danny & Jeff for taking part. At the end of the night Zeb, one of the rookies, won the slam and took a $25 prize back to college with him. ------------------------------ Photo Gallery Update [image: Photo Album] On November 28th we uploaded eight photo sets of features from the past several months. He heads south for the 2008 Individual World Poetry Slamthis week. Send your happy thoughts in his general direction. *Michael Brown* was our feature this week. After adjusting the mic he abandoned it for the first 4 or so poems, all strung together with a bit of song between each. He wandered through the audience, connecting with those gathered, discussing past lives, the archangel of jazz and a long slow death. He then took to the mic for the rest of his set, sharing tales of clockworks, some summer words for a cold night, a couple of covers from *Off the Coast* and more. A great set from an excellent performer. Thanks Michael. ------------------------------ The Poets' Asylum is in its seventeenth year of bringing the best in Performance and Slam Poetry to Central Massachusetts and beyond.
