Greetings from the Poets' Asylum. Good stuff this week in Worcester poetry.
Come out and join in the fun.

Dave Macpherson and Bob Gill perform at
Assumption College Friday Night

The d'Alzon Arts Series: Poetry Reading
<http://www.poetsasylum.org/href=>returns this Friday (Feb. 15th)
night at Assumption College (500 Salisbury
Street, Worcester) in the Emmanuel d'Alzon Library. The format is an open
mic for the first half-hour or so, a short break with refreshments and then
2 featured poets. The reading starts at 7:00 p.m. This month their features
will be the Asylum regulars *Dave Macpherson* and *Bob Gill*.

Coming up on Sunday, February 17th

[image: Poetic Boxing] Join the Asylum this week with the next *Open
Qualifying Slam* for the 2008 Worcester Slam Season. A poetry slam is a
performance poetry competition and anyone can participate. Poets are given
three minutes to step up to the mic and perform one original poem of their
own construction. Folks chosen from the audience judge the performance and
the poetry. After two rounds we tally up the scores and declare a winner.
The top two finishers in tonight's slam move on to the Spring semi-final in
May.

Head down to The Q Cafe <http://theqma.com/> (362 Chandler Street,
Worcester). The open mic sign-up list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the
reading starts closer to 7:30 p.m. No cover; please throw money in the
bucket to support the reading.

February 10th Revisited

Poets' Asylum co-host *Dave Keali'i* was our feature. He read a ton of poems
including a couple of covers (Robert Sullivan & Martín Espada for those
playing along at home). His own work contained gems about Hawaiian creation
myths, failed romance and lots of water. Those who attended heard the
spectacular dual voice tale of Headshine & Multiple which Dave performed
with Erin Jackson. Thanks for making it a fun night at the Asylum Dave.
