Welcome to the weekly newsletter from the Poets' Asylum. Some great poetic
events happening over the next few days. Come check them if you have the
time. You won't regret it in the least.

Tonight @ the Ship

Join the fun tonight at the Hotel Vernon (1 Millbury Street, Worcester) for
*The Spot*. This weekly reading meets in the Kelly Square Yacht Club (that
room in the back) and starts at 8:00 p.m. Every Thursday night there will be
an open mic followed by a feature. This week the feature will be
*Duende*with Tony Brown & Faro. No cover but bring money to buy a
beverage and to
support the feature. 21+

Worcester Storytellers - Friday night

*Worcester Storytellers* meets this Friday (June 13th) at the Village Arts
Gallery (1 Ekman Street, Worcester). The reading starts at 8:00 p.m. There
will be an open mic followed by the feature, storyteller *Laura Packer*.
Laura Packer has been telling stories her whole life and her deep love of
folktales led her to obtain a degree in Folklore and Mythology from Boston
University. Laura has performed around the world and tonight she will share
her stories with a Worcester audience. Come on down!

Worcester Storytellers never charges a cover. They ask you throw some money
into the basket to support the artists who feature. For more info please
contact Dave Macpherson <davemacp at aol.com>.

Yard Sale - Saturday, June 14th
Asylum Auction - Sunday, June 15th

As part of our fundraising efforts for this year the Poets' Asylum will hold
*Yard Sale, Auction and Art Sale*. The yard sale will be held on Saturday,
June 14th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. outside The Q Cafe (362 Chandler
Steet, Worcester, MA). Expect a wide variety of stuff such as books, DVDs,
stuffed animals, small appliances and more. Come browse the goods and maybe
you'll find a gem you can't live without.

The following night, Sunday, June 15th, we'll hold the *Annual Asylum
Auction* as part of the weekly *Poets' Asylum* reading at The Q Cafe. We'll
have an extended open reading with a bit of auction action thrown in for
fun. This is our big event to raise the money needed to get the Slam team to
Nationals. Nationals are in Madison, WI and our expenses include
registrations, airfare, and lodging for the team and coach. All told we
expect to need over $3000 this year.

Finally we will hold an *Art Sale* all month long at The Q Cafe. We have art
work contributed by many friends of the Asylum that we adorn the walls of
the The Q during the month of June. All the pieces will be priced to move so
stop by and pick up something pretty to hang on your wall.

We are seeking donations of good condition items for both the yard sale and
auction. Items for donation and such can be brought to the regular Sunday
night reading on June 8th at The Q Cafe. Or drop an e-mail to host @
poetsasylum.org <host at poetsasylum.org> to reach Dave, Liz or Cyndi.
