Sunday night!

Coming up on Sunday, May 25th

[image: Poetic Boxing] It's time for the *2008 Worcester Slam Finals* at the
Poets' Asylum. The top finishers this week will represent Worcester at the 2008
Nationals <http://www.nps2008.com/> being held in Madison, WI in August.
Join us as Adam Stone, Ryk McIntyre, Bobby Gibbs, Trevor Byrne-Smith, Nick
Davis, Erin Jackson, Gary Hoare and Dave Keali'i compete in three rounds of
poetic mayhem. It's bound to be a hot night with great poetry and top rate
performances from everyone.

Come join in the fun at The Q Cafe <http://theqma.com/> (362 Chandler
Street, Worcester). The open mic sign-up list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and
the reading starts closer to 7:30 p.m. No cover; please throw some money in
the bucket to support the reading.

May 18th Revisited

It was a hot night at the Poets' Asylum this week with a packed open mic and
a killer feature by *Logan Phillips*. With a mix of well practiced work and
newer pieces he worked the mic and carried the audience with him. Moving
from heavier material to lighter fare and back with ease he kept those who
gathered to hear him waiting for the next sentence, the next phrase. His
tales of teaching English in Mexico were especially captivating. Thanks
Logan!

"The Weekend Starts Now"

"The Weekend Starts Now" is an e-mail newsletter focusing on arts and
entertainment events in the Worcester-area. Created by the
Telegram<http://www.telegram.com/>it will highlight a handful of
events, mostly things that are great but
might not otherwise get a great deal of attention, and provide links to The
Telegram's music, dining and film columns, as well as our calendar.
Obviously, it's going to grow and change as time goes on, but Asylum regular
(and TWSN editor) Victor Infante is pleased with it so far, and he really
thinks this is a chance to bring a focus to arts and entertainment events
that might otherwise slip through the cracks.
